Precision-engineered 480-ton gantry crane designed, built, and installed at Bonneville Dam for critical powerhouse operations.
Design and install of a 480-ton gantry crane.
Advanced Crane Technology served as the prime contractor for the design and installation of a new 480-ton intake gantry crane at Powerhouse 1, Bonneville Dam. The scope of work encompassed design, material procurement, fabrication, assembly, shipping, installation, start-up, load testing, and operator training.
Unique features included five independent trolleys, three 160-ton main hoists, six auxiliary hoists, and a rotating hammerhead for debris management in the Columbia River. The crane was engineered with seismic ratings, auxiliary hoists for fish and trash screens, and capabilities to handle intake gates to prevent turbine runaways. This complex, multi-motion system ensured reliability, operational safety, and long-term durability for mission-critical U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations.
