Rehab of a 400-ton powerhouse crane fully modernized with new controls, electrification, and safety systems at Carters Dam in Georgia.
Prime contractor on a 400-ton crane rehabilitation project.
Advanced Crane Technologies was the prime contractor for the rehabilitation of the 400-ton powerhouse crane at Carters Dam in Chatsworth, GA. The project required a complete mechanical and electrical upgrade to restore reliable performance and extend the service life of the crane and its associated lifting beam. ACT installed new motors, brakes, reducers, sheaves, festoon systems, wiring, and replaced the operator cab and chair, along with ladders, handrails, and runway electrification.
A modern PLC-based control system with a cab-mounted interface was integrated, providing enhanced diagnostics, status monitoring, and alarms. Radio remote control capability was added for improved operational flexibility. The scope also included a full runway inspection, necessary repairs, complete load testing of both the crane and lifting beam, and comprehensive operator and maintenance training to ensure continued safe and efficient operation.
