12-ton monorail crane system with advanced controls and spreader beam installed over USACE dam spillway under challenging site access conditions.
12T monorail crane replacement and more.
Advanced Crane Technologies replaced an aging 10-ton monorail system with a custom-engineered 12-ton monorail crane designed to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers specifications. The upgraded system features state-of-the-art VFD controls for both hoist and travel motions, along with radio control operation and a pendant backup for flexible use. Load cells were integrated at both dead-end connections to provide overload protection, ensuring safe and precise operation throughout the crane’s range.
The scope also included the installation of a 42’-8” custom spreader beam designed to interface with the dam’s existing stop logs, as well as a 1,033-foot-long monorail feed rail system featuring four continuous 250-amp copper conductor bars. With the entire system spanning 21 spillway gates beneath a state roadway, the project demanded careful planning and execution to overcome extremely limited access and logistical constraints—demonstrating ACT’s ability to deliver in complex environments.
